UniGetUI Beta Update: Simultaneous Downloads & Installs

UniGetUI (formerly known as WingetUI) has rolled out a fresh beta release that enhances how users download and install software packages on Windows 10 and 11. This update brings faster, more flexible workflows for anyone looking to manage multiple applications through a unified interface. Below is a detailed look at the changes and what they mean for users.

Redesigned Download Experience

A central improvement in this release is the ability to perform multiple downloads at once. Previously, you had to wait for one package to finish before starting another. Now, you can queue up several files simultaneously, a welcome change for anyone installing or updating many apps in quick succession. Additionally, UniGetUI displays these downloads at the bottom of the window as part of a combined install/download operation, making progress tracking more intuitive.

Right-Click Download Option

Another convenient feature is the right-click download: You can now simply right-click on any package in the app’s main list and select “Download installer.” This approach removes the need to open a package’s details page for direct downloads, speeding up the entire process. If you frequently manage multiple apps, you’ll save plenty of time by skipping extra steps.

Portable Mode and Improved Uninstallation

For users who prefer minimal installation footprints, UniGetUI can now act as a portable app. When installed in “Portable” mode, your settings stay alongside the executable file instead of embedding themselves across your system. This flexibility makes it easier to move UniGetUI between machines without losing your customized preferences.

Meanwhile, a bug that affected package uninstallation has been addressed. Users no longer need to worry about broken updates or reinstalls after removing a package—UniGetUI 3.1.6-beta2 corrects these issues, enabling a smoother overall experience.

Additional Improvements

  • Multiple Bug Fixes: The development team has tackled various internal issues for better performance.
  • Enhanced Icons and Screenshots: Icons for Steam, local PC, and Microsoft Store apps have seen a refresh.
  • Behind-the-Scenes Upgrades: The latest beta includes more robust translation handling and deeper improvements to package download operations.

How to Get the Update

You can download this UniGetUI beta directly from the project’s GitHub repository, from its official website, or via software sites like Neowin. Keep in mind that this version is still labeled as a beta, which may come with minor instabilities. If you prefer a stable experience, you can stick to the existing release and wait for the next stable build.

Final Thoughts

UniGetUI’s new beta release significantly refines the user experience by streamlining downloads and installs, offering a portable mode, and fixing known uninstallation bugs. If you’re comfortable with testing beta software, now is an excellent time to give these new features a try. For most users, the enhancements—especially simultaneous package downloads—will make managing apps on Windows 10 and 11 more efficient and hassle-free.
