Toronto police are investigating the tragic shooting of 69-year-old Mariano De-Marco, who was found dead early Monday morning in the driveway of a North York home.
Incident Details
De-Marco was discovered with a gunshot wound outside a residence on Fairholme Avenue, near Lawrence Avenue West and Allen Road, shortly after 4 a.m. He was initially located by a parking enforcement officer and was pronounced dead at the scene.
During a press briefing, Det. Sgt. Aaron Akeson confirmed the incident appears to have been targeted but did not disclose specific reasons.
Community Cooperation
Authorities are urging residents with video surveillance footage from the area to come forward. “We’ve received good cooperation from several people in the neighborhood,” Akeson stated. “Given the location, we believe there are additional cameras that may provide valuable evidence.”
Police Resources Deployed
Akeson emphasized the department’s commitment to solving the case, highlighting the significant resources dedicated to the investigation.
“Mr. DeMarco was a father, grandfather, and uncle. His family is devastated by his loss, and we are determined to find answers,” he said.
